Dreamhack 2017

We had massively successful time at Dreamhack 2017 at our booth this last weekend. We were able to finally give players the opportunity to try out a demo of our game with multiplayer and received rave reviews and praise for it. We received tons of feedback which we’ve been reviewing and analyzing diligently to incorporate as many of our fans ideas into Knights of the Drowned Table as possible. During the event we got to talk with so many wonderful, friendly people and even made many new fans from the event. RillyBoss Studios ended up being in the top 3 of the Game Pitch Contest at Dreamhack! Everyone here at RillyBoss studios wants to thank all who attended and who came to our booth to try out the game and look forward to giving you a final taste of the real deal very soon. Also, if you haven’t checked out our Oculus giveaway, head over to our main page for details on signing up!

We Don’t Bite!

We’ve finally been able to release our Knights of the Drowned Table BrightLocker and Steam game pages to the public. The game itself is currently not up for download yet, though we may have some surprises coming out soon! We are very happy about the release of both of these pages as they are huge milestones in our development and are encouraged by their release. It’s taken some time to get everything set up but we are ready to start showcasing the game and its progress on these social platforms!

The Climb

It took a lot of prep and sweat to get the game to where it is now, but it’s far from finished and we have a deadline we need to meet to make sure all of you are able to play the game in time for Christmas! We’re currently developing our next two levels plus a multiplayer PvP level or two before the release. Right now we have a creepy and dark filled level in the works with tons of action and interesting puzzles! Our development blogs will be showing off their work soon on what our concepts and thoughts are for the coming objectives and game levels. If you are interested in our design process, head on over to BrightLocker to watch development sessions and create your own ideas for the game, or jump into our Discord chat to watch in real time as we discuss the progress of our game development 24/7. Don’t be afraid, jump on in, we’d love to hear your ideas and chat with you!

PAX 2017

Finally, we’d like to officially announce that we will be attending PAX 2018 in two booths in San Antonio! We’ve worked hard to get to this point and will have a fully released game to demo by this time in January as well. We are highly encouraged by everyone’s genuine interest in our game and can’t wait to show off our fully developed game for PAX. Take a look at our events page for more details on the event, location, booth and times!

Polish, Repeat

With the team wrapping up our first level, polish passes are soon upon us. This means going back through and polishing things we were overlooking before and optimizing them to look presentable and astounding to players. From creating all new props to changing code, our team is busting their butts to give players the best experience in both looks and game-play that we possibly can. That being said, we've begun preparations and development on both our 'waiting room' for the start of the game before players choose their quests, and also our second level which is set to be inside a castle! More on these developments to come in the next two weeks so keep a lookout for our dev and community posts!

RillyBoss on Brightlocker

We have so much to present to the world already with our game and we can't wait for people to see it first hand. We want everyone to see our progress and plan to have players play a part in the development process through our recent partnership with Brightlocker. Our team has been hard at work creating the content, images, and rewards for our new Brightlocker page and hope to get everyone involved and as excited as we are during the development of the game. Brightlocker will give players a chance to help us out by having opportunity to direct how we develop the game or being a part of it, donating, and getting rewards for your contributions! Its really awesome so check us out and we thank you for your support!

Visit Our Booth!

Last week we discussed that we would be attending Dreamhack this year, and we would like to invite you to join us and visit our booth for a chance to win an Oculus Rift, try out our game, and get cool swag! Our team has been working very hard to prepare for this event, not only from a developers standpoint, but designing our banners and props for the event as well. The event will be held at the National Western Complex from October 20th - 22nd. Our entire team will be there every day answering questions, giving out positive vibes, and awesome swag! We can't wait to see you at our booth!

Emergence

For those who don’t know, RillyBoss Studios recently attended an event in Denver to once again show off our demo of Knights of the Drowned Table. We received some fantastic feedback from both game developers and fans alike and have been working diligently to implement the ideas and suggestions we’ve received. As a team, we’ve taken this feedback from the events we’ve done and have discussed in depth about how we want the game to look and feel. I’m proud to say we have some exciting new features in the works and we thank you all whom visited us and took the time to give us feedback!

Work, Work, Work

Since our last community update we’ve been very hard at work conceptualizing and developing Knights of the Drowned Table from the ground up. We’ve put our best minds to work on coding, constructing, and modeling a stunning new environment that we can’t wait to show off. Our artists have been busy making hundreds of new props, textures, and other art to put together our first full level which is set to be in the middle of the desert. We have all new enemies, characters, objectives, animations, and audio in the works to make sure you have the most immersive and enjoyable virtual reality experience. Keep an eye out for our developer updates for more on their behind the scenes process!

Site Updates

If you hadn’t noticed, we’ve spruced up our front page a bit and we hope to continue adding features including a page dedicated to our new game, Knights of the Drowned Table, very soon. With this new format we aim to make navigation and accessibility of the blog posts, games, and other site features smooth and seamless. We’ve set up a community and support Discord chat that we will be posting a link to on the website very soon for everyone to access and provide feedback, talk to developers, and interact with fellow fans with. Keep visiting our sites to check for more updates!

Developing the Dry & Arid

With the team hard at work on creating incredible looking characters and props for the last two months, construction of the our first level has been underway and is nearing completion. We’ve conceptualized and designed several objectives for the players to accomplish during the level to complete one final goal. Each objective is set to have its own unique look and style with brand new enemies and encounters to keep the player alert and on their toes. With that in mind, we’ve created some captivating desert scenery to entice your senses and get you immersed in the game.

Big Things Are Coming

With our first level nearing completion we’ve been eager to let players test it out, so we’ve booked an event at Dreamhack Denver to showcase Knights of the Drowned Table on October 20th – 22nd! We are very excited to give players a first hand look at the work that we’ve been producing and can’t wait to show it off. We will be attending with our own RillyBoss Studios booth where people can win prizes, get RillyBoss swag, and test out the game with multiple players! We will be keeping you up to date on this event and our booth in the coming week, so keep a lookout and we hope to see you there!

Success!

We recently attended a small event showcasing our game demo and it was a major success! Thank you to all who attended. With that being said, we've received a ton of feedback both good and bad to work from and improve upon. We strongly encourage as much support and feedback as possible from everyone as it inevitably helps and advances our development progress. With the feedback given, we will be improving and optimizing the demo level for future events and we will also be showcasing some new things in the works at Rillyboss Studios. This weekend some of the team will be attending a casual event in Aurora, Colorado at Rocky Ridge Park from 11:00am to 6:00pm which will primarily focus on partners and developers. Feel free to drop by!

New Faces

We've been working hard here at Rillyboss, and after the release of our demo we have a boatload more to do. So we've brought on three new people to the company to help bring our future games to life! We've brought on Jeremiah, who specializes in modeling and texture wrapping for environmental props. Jared, who will be primarily leading the art for some of our characters and main boss modeling. Finally we have Julian, who brings detailed concept art, environmental, and character modeling to the table. Now that we have a solid team put together, we've begun designing and conceptualizing the official new game for release.

Behind the Scenes

Over the last week and a half we've had several in depth meetings to lay down the foundation of what the game will inevitably look like, and what is going to be honed in on specifically for quick release. Our creative minds behind the scenes have been churning out awesome ideas and we are all excited to show what we can do. Our artists have been very hard at work this last week creating concepts and beginning the designs for characters and environment props. So without further adieu, this week we will be showcasing some concepts for an environment we are working on for the official game from the creative concept mind of Julian. We will be showcasing our other artists work as well in the coming week, so keep on the lookout for our development and community updates!

Looking Forward

With the success of our demo showcase and our newly put together development A-Team, we look to start developing some amazing, intense, and addicting games in the near future. We will be keeping everyone up to date via blogs, social media, and we will also be attending events as frequently as possible in Colorado to help spread the word. Coming in the near future we will be attending a Twitch event and showcasing our modified demo level and some brand new, never seen before gameplay of our development levels for the official game. The event will be held once again at the Platt Park Brewery in Denver, where you will have the opportunity to try out new games, drink, win prizes and givaways, and have fun! We will keep you posted with details on the event this friday via blog and social media! So keep a lookout, and we can't wait to see you there!

A first time for everything!

After roughly a month of work, I am excited to publish the first entry in the RillyBoss Studios Blog. My goal is to publish an update once per week – if my schedule allows it. I would love any feedback regarding the blog, and how it can better make the development of our software at RillyBoss Studios as transparent as possible. Our goal is to work directly with the community to build software that is fun and engaging. The past month has been quite busy as we are working not only on developing our second project, but also on growing and building our business.

New Faces

I am pleased to announce that Taylor Pepler-Madsen (Taylor.PeplerMadsen@RillyBoss.com) joins RillyBoss Studios as our Community Manager. Taylor has been working with RillyBoss Studios, as he designed our logo and a majority of the graphics in our mobile game RillyBoss Reversi. Taylor will now be responsible for communications, web development, PR, graphics design, social media, events, and content creation. Taylor brings many years of web design and graphics to the table and we are very lucky to have him on board! Keep an eye on our website over the upcoming weeks, as Taylor will be performing some major and much needed visual overhaul.

Community Update

It has been a stressful week – working full time while trying to get the business off of the ground has definitely been taking its toll. I spent the beginning of the week designing and implementing a basic system for computer controlled enemies into our untitled upcoming VR game. The second half of the week has been devoted towards the administrative side of the business. I have been working on securing an LLC, launching the company website, and building a presence on social media. I truly hope in the long run that these endeavors will pay off.

E-mail Woes

A major source of stress has been caused by GoDaddy and Office 365. I manage an enterprise Office 365 environment at the office and am very familiar with the product. Because of this, we use Office 365 as our e-mail platform, and I originally purchased the product from GoDaddy. Unfortunately, the product from GoDaddy is missing many features from the Official Microsoft product. After using GoDaddys version for the past few months, I’ve finally had enough and reached out to Microsoft to migrate my service. In order to migrate, Microsoft had me purchase all new licensing and instructed that I request a refund from GoDaddy. Unfortunately GoDaddy does not offer refunds after 30 days, even though Office 365 is a subscription based service. The same product from Microsoft can be refunded at any point during your subscription. All said and done, I have lost $150 for a service that I can no longer use. I would definitely not recommend GoDaddy for Office 365 to any one.

Looking Forward

We are looking to start building social media presence as well as finish our website design. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
